Selected Chicago-Area Museums Offer Free Admission Sept. 29

Effort in conjunction with the Smithsonian Museum Day.

 

Ever want to catch up what's happening in the sky? Want to learn more about your heritage?

Saturday, Sept. 29 might just be the day to do so as a number of museums around the Chicago area - and throughout Illinois - will let you in for free.

In the spirit of Smithsonian Museums, who offer free admission every day, Museum Day Live! is an annual event hosted by Smithsonian Magazine. All you have to do is click here to get a Museum Day Ticket. Institutions taking part are Smithsonian-affiliated museums.

Participating sites include:

In Chicago:The Alder Planetarium DuSable Museum of African American HistoryBalzekas Museum of Lithaunian CultureNational Hellenic Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Swedish American Museum.

Suburban spots: Graue Mill and Museum, Oak Brook; Kline Creek Farm, West Chicago; the Willowbrook Wildlife Center, Glen Ellyn; the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center in Skokie.

Feel like a road trip? Think about going south to visit the Lincoln Heritage Museum in Lincoln, just north of Springfield. Or take in the Lincoln Presidential Museum in our state capital.
