Area Native Betty White Earns Spot in 2014 Guinness Book of World Records

Native Oak Parker Betty White named record-holder for longest TV career in the 2014 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records.

Oak Park native Betty White will be recognized for her 74-year career in the 2014 edition of the "Guinness Book of World Records," Today.com reports.

The 91-year-old comedian will be named as the record-holder for Longest TV Career for an Entertainher (Female). The book will be in stores today.

In a Q&A with Guinness, White said she was "astounded" to learn she'd be named a record-holder for her 74-year career.

White, who has played on some of TV's most popular shows including "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," named "Pet Set" and "Golden Girls" as a couple of her favorite appearances, and talked about her first TV appearance in 1939.
