Your Guide to Lollapalooza 2013

Everything you need to know about Lollapalooza 2013.

The countdown to party time in Grant Park has begun.

Lollapalooza ticket holders are probably starting to get their wristbands in the mail and getting more and more excited about who they plan to see at the three-day music festival.

The event kicks off Friday, Aug. 2, in Grant Park, where more than 130 artists will play on one of eight stages between 11:30 a.m. and 10 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

It'll be a hot, sticky and crowded weekend, so take a minute to look over these tips and think about your game plan:

Lineup

This is the fun part. (Watch the video above to see who will be there.) You can create and share your own custom schedule on the Lollapalooza website, and download the official mobile app to keep track of it while you're at the event.

Layout

There are eight stages in the 115-acre park. The main food areas, Chow Town North and Chow Town South are located along Columbus Drive, between Jackson Drive and Balbo Avenue.

Take a look at the event map to get a feel for where you want to start your day.

Food

No outside food is allowed at Lollapalooza, so Chow Town and the Lolla Farmers Market will be key. A complete list of vendors is available on the Lolla website.

Getting there

Bikes
Bike racks are available next to the Lollapalooza box office on Columbus Drive, between Congress and Balbo. Free bike parking is also available at the McDonald's Bike Center in Millenium Park, according to the Lolla website.

Parking?
Good luck. But there is 24-hour underground parking at Grant Park and Soldier Field. More info is available here.

What to take

Water. Attendees will be allowed to take up to two sealed water bottles (up to one liter each) or empty CamelBaks or water bottles into the park.

Blankets, soft coolers and binoculars may also come in handy.

In addition to weapons, explosives and drugs, the list of items that are not allowed at Lollapalooza includes pets, tents and chairs, glass containers, skateboards, scooters and bikes. Read the rest of the list here

Wristband

Lastly, read the little note you got in the mail with your wristband and treat it like money. If it's deformed in any way, you could be in trouble.

Have fun!
