Developers Interested in Dominick's Site, Administrator Says
River Forest administrator says he's taken calls from people interested in the Dominick's site, though nothing tangible has transpired since Dec. 28 closing.
Though nothing "tangible" has transpired, there is developer interest in the former Dominick's store at 7501 North Ave. in River Forest, Village Administrator Eric Palm said Monday.
Palm said village staff has been working with the property owner, MidAmerica Management, to determine the future of the now-vacant space after Safeway closed the store Dec. 28, along with 71 other Dominick's stores in the Chicago area.
While he couldn't provide specifics, Palm said he and Village President Catherine Adduci have both taken calls from people interested in the property.
With a few years remaining on their lease, Safeway will continue to have a role in what opens at the North Avenue location.
Palm added that staff was onsite to oversee the store's closing in December to ensure the building was properly shut down.
He said he expects the village's Economic Development Commission will review the property as the village continues to work with MidAmerica.
