Village ends hiring freeze with new position and commissions welcome new company to town.

Job to Open at Village Hall

Commissioners on Jan. 14 waived the village's hiring freeze and approved hiring a parking enforcement officer. The person will be a civilian member of the police force. There is no indication when this position will become vacant.

Commissioners Support Company's Move to Forest Park

Commissioners also approved a tax abatement plan that will allow a Broadview company to move its headquarters to a mostly-vacant industrial building at 7660 Industrial Dr.

Tentative approval of the Class 6b incentive for 2XL Corp. was given in December.

To expand,  2XL Corp. has to apply to Cook County for the incentive. A Class 6b designation allows companies to pay less in real estate taxes with the money going toward rehabilitation of existing industrial structures and the industrial reutilization of abandoned buildings. The program is offered as a way of stimulating community development.

The incentive still must be approved by the Cook County Board, which could take up the measure later this month.
