Ins and Outs of Forest Park Preschool Program to be Focus of Info Sessions

Events Feb. 28 and March 6 will concentrate on effort for 3 to 5-year-olds that will begin this fall.

Informational sessions have been set for Feb. 28 and March 6 to inform Forest Park parents about the new preschool program for 3 to 5 year-olds that District 91 will start this fall.

The programs will be from 6 to 6:30 p.m., Thursday Feb. 28 and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 6. Both will be at Garfield School, 543 Hannah Ave., where the effort will be housed.

Parents will learn about registration, how the program will be structured, the curriculum and the services that will be provided. Parents also will learn about any part of the preschool program that will be held at park district facilities.

The program, approved unanimously by the District 91 school board, will consist of half-day sessions. Elements will include  that will include core academic skills such as a recognition of letters and numbers, what they mean and sound like. An early development of reading skills also will be included. Creative play also will be part of the effort.
