Police Charge Man in Currency Exchange Armed Robbery

Forest Park police charged a Chicago man with armed robbery after a search of his phone records led to his arrest.

A Chicago man was charged in connection with a June 1 robbery in Forest Park last weekend after cell phone records showed he called a cab to flee the scene, police said Monday.

Cedric Q. Bolling, 25, of Chicago, was charged with armed robbery June 20 after Forest Park police located him in Stickney using his cell phone records. Police said Bolling admitted to his involvement in robbing the Currency Exchange at 7207 Roosevelt Rd. in Forest Park on June 1.

A store employee told police that while sitting at her register, she heard a loud noise coming from the back of the building and saw someone smashing the window inside the rear vestibule area with a sledgehammer, police said

She told police she hit all panic alarm buttons and called 911. When the call didn't go through, she grabbed her cell phone and ran toward the bathroom and asked the man trying to get in, "What do you want?" as she ran past the window.

The man replied, "Money, money, money," police said. The employee then locked herself in the bathroom and called 911.

Detectives discovered that after the robbery occurred, Bolling called for a cab, giving his nickname and cell phone number to the cab company. That led police to search his phone records.
